How to Make a Christmas Centerpiece (Step by Step)

Crafting your own holiday arrangement in a vessel isn’t difficult, but it is incredibly rewarding. Here are some simple step-by-step instructions on how to make a red Christmas centerpiece with fresh flowers and festive decorations.

Start by choosing a container — this could be a large decorative plate, a shallow pot, or another vessel. You’ll also need potting soil, moss to cover the soil, plants (we chose a small fir tree, a red poinsettia, ivy, houseleek, and kalanchoe), as well as Christmas decorations. Natural accents like pinecones and cinnamon sticks will work beautifully.

2. How to Begin

Start by placing a few centimeters of soil at the bottom of your pot or container. Make sure there’s enough soil so that the plants stand firmly.
Before you begin arranging, think about where you plan to display your centerpiece. If it will be the centerpiece of your Christmas Eve or holiday table, arrange it so that it looks elegant from every angle. If it’s meant for a windowsill or sideboard, you can focus the arrangement on just one side.
