Tuilp care - How to make cut tulips last longer?

Have you received a beautiful bouquet of tulips? Wonderful! To enjoy their beauty for as long as possible, we’ve prepared a few tips to help extend their lifespan. Here’s what to do to keep tulips fresh and pleasing to the eye for many days.

1. Clean vase

It's important that the vase we'll place our tulips in is clean. Before placing the flowers in it, wash it thoroughly and then rinse it well with cold water.

2. Cut the tulip stems straight

Trim the tulip stems straight across (about 2 cm above the stem end). Don't cut them diagonally, as with roses, because this causes the tulip to absorb too much water.

3. How much water to pour

Tulips don't like a lot of water in a vase. They absorb water through their entire stem, so only about 10 cm of water is enough.

4. Leave the wrapping

After placing the tulips in the water, leave the wrapping or plastic wrap around the flowers for about 30-60 minutes. This will tighten them and keep them nicely erect.

Where to place tulips in a vase? Do cut tulips like sun?

Place them in a cool place overnight to prolong their life. Tulips are sturdy flowers and easily tolerate drafts. Don't place them in too warm a place, but also be careful not to place them in too cold a place. Avoid placing the flowers in direct sunlight if you don't want them to bloom too quickly.
